Life isn't always manageable. Problems may develop that affect people, their families and their work. When these problems persist, it is wise to turn to trained professionals for expert help. The Long Island Counseling Center is nearby with experienced, professional help...in times like these.

What Services Do We Provide?

 

Treatment for children in trouble at school, home, or in the community

  • Counseling for parents of children in trouble
  • Therapy for adults with emotional problems
  • Counseling for adults with marital or family problems
  • Treatment for anxiety disorders
  • We offer Psycho-Educational and Support Groups where people with similar problems can share and learn together
  • Crisis intervention to respond to immediate problems such as family violence and acute emotional disturbance
  • Medication therapy and ongoing monitoring of psychotropic drugs
  • Special outreach to high risk adolescents, sexually abused children, those recovering from serious mental illnesses (and their families) and other special populations
  • Parent education and other types of community information programs
  • Consultations to schools, police, clergy and other community agencies
  • Information and referral as needed

Who Provides the Help?

Our multi-disciplinary team includes licensed and trained psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and psychiatric nurses. These professionals, together with a dedicated support staff, provide high quality mental health services.

 

Hours of Operation

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

 

In addition, a 24-hour, seven days a week answering service ensures a timely response to any emergency.

 

What Do Services Cost?

Fees are based on a sliding scale - according to an individual family's ability to pay. The Center accepts Medicaid, Medicare and/or most major medical insurance as partial or full payment for services. The Center is a member of many managed care networks, please ask our Intake Department (516.437.6050, x 233) for additional information.
